Over the weekend Westover's firefighters joined with their counterparts in Chicopee in responding to a house fire in Ludlow.

Ryan Pease, Ludlow FD chief said, "firefighters were called to the area of Evergreen Circle for a report of a house fire. Upon arrival, firefighters observed heavy flames coming from the first floor of a two-story home."

Upon arrival, Westover's Engine 8 was tasked as the rapid intervention team standby for firefighter safety and assisted with other exterior duties including laddering the structure to provide a secondary means of egress for the interior firefighting crews.

Engine 8’s crew also assisted in the removal of siding and soffits to expose and extinguish any hidden fire.

The Patriot Wing has a long and proud history of mutual aid in the lower Pioneer Valley, which amplifies Westover's versatility and viability.
