Westover Fire responds to Ludlow Fire

Westover’s Fire Department responded to a mutual aid structure fire in Ludlow, on Feb. 18. Westover along with fire department from Ludlow and Wilbraham responded Saturday morning at 8:25 a.m. According to Westover Fire Chief David Benedetti, the fire on White St. had started on the porch and was spreading to the rest of the house when firefighters arrived; smoke and fire were seen coming from the rear of the single-story structure. The fire was contained by 10 a.m. and the cause is being investigated by the Ludlow Fire Department and the State Fire Marshal’s Office. The Huey UH-1Y Venom and Bell AH-1Z Viper gunship are part of Marine Light Attack Helicopter Squadron 773, Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, New Jersey.

Citizen Airman Fitness Increases Citizen Airman Readiness

For many service members across the U.S. Air Force, the pandemic created unique challenges in maintaining fitness goals as Airmen were excused from testing while COVID mandates meant staying home and being less active. “We were seeing members fail their PT test almost every drill weekend,” said U.S. Air Force SSgt. Samuel Baah with the Aeromedical Staging Squadron. “We realized we needed to do something different, because we wanted our members to succeed.” SSgt. Baah and SrA. Olivia Sutherland both volunteered to take over the fitness program for the ASTS squadron here.
