  • Tech. Sgt. Ryan Cassidy, 439th Maintenance Squadron’s Quality Assurance Section holds the winning trophy for the Spark Tank Challenge.  It is being handed to him by Colonel Greg Buchanan, 439th Airlift Wing commander.  Standing next to Cassidy is Chief Master Sgt. Barbara Gilmore, 439 AW command chief and Kathy Reid, AFWERX Spark division deputy.  The military members are in desert camouflage uniforms and Ms. Reid is in a black suit.  There are other military members standing in the background, and there is a white projection screen behind everyone.  Cassidy’s rescue hook was designed as a practical and efficient solution for rescuing individuals who fall from aircraft.

    Westover Innovation Day Showcases Cutting-Edge Technology and Airmen Creativity

  • Four Air Force Reserve senior leaders participate in a building clearing exercise at Westover’s Dogpatch training area, Aug 7.  They are standing one behind each other, wearing protective helmets and face shields, and carrying training/non-firing rifles. 
The exercise allowed participants to experience first-hand the current training Airmen are required to undergo and accel at, to prepare for the battlefield.  A two-day warfighting conference was hosted by Westover Reserve Air Force Base with Lt. Gen. John. Healy, Chief of Air Force Reserve, in attendance to ensure Airman are “Ready Now” to fight tonight and have the tools and equipment to transform for future threats as assets in the nation’s defense.
