C-5C Space Cargo Modified Galaxy
A C-5C Space Cargo Modified (SCM) Galaxy sits in Westover's Regional Isochronal Dock for maintenance, Nov. 3, 2013. The SCM Galaxy, specially modified to carry satellites and other large cargo, is the only modified version of the C-5 that provides special airlift support for satellites. With the troop compartment removed and modification to their aft loading doors, the C-5C aircraft have a larger cargo area than other C-5s. There are only two C-5C models in the entire C-5 fleet, both assigned to the 60th Air Mobility Wing in Travis AFB, Cali. (U.S. Air Force photo/SSgt. Kelly Goonan)
