FEMA preps for Earl, stages out of Westover for first time
About 35 Federal Emergency Management Ageny tractor trailers loaded with water, generators, tarps, food and other emergency supplies arrived at Westover on September 2 in preperation for the possible landfall of Hurricane Earl in New England. Westover and FEMA have had emergency plans in place for six years, but Hurricane Earl marks the first time the base is being used as a staging point for FEMA Region 1, which encompasses all of New England.
