Butterfly Club survey

Nine members of Massachusetts Butterfly Club surveyed on base April 29. They found the caterpillar of the grammia phyllira tiger moth, which is listed by Mass. conservation officials as endangered. Westover and the immediate area is the only place in the state it is found. They also found 149 rare frosted elfin butterflies, common tiger beetles and a common snake. Westover's Natural/Cultural Resources Manager, Andrew Milroy, led the tour. (courtesy photo/K. Barry)
