WESTOVER AIR RESERVE BASE, Mass. --  The Patriot Wing’s awards program, most visible in years past at the Base Hangar Commander’s Calls, will take a new direction to kick off 2016.

What’s billed as an Awards Gala will be held Jan. 9 at the Westover Club beginning at 6 p.m. Scheduled events include a presentation of wing-level awards and the induction of the wing’s 2016 honorary commander, Richard Rege, who is the superintendent of schools for Chicopee.

Rege will be Westover’s fourth honorary commander. The Honorary Commander Program encourages the exchange of ideas, experiences, and friendships between Westover leadership and key members of the local community.

The event runs until about 8:30 p.m. Uniform is service dress.
