WESTOVER AIR RESERVE BASE, Mass. --
Air Force officials announced today that a
civilian contractor died Tuesday on base.
Because of next-of-kin notification, the
worker’s name was not immediately released. He was identified as Richard
Connally, 60. Connally was the transportation manager for Phoenix Management
Inc., the base primary operating support contractor.
There are about 1,000 civilians who work at
the base, including those with Phoenix Management, which assists the Air Force
with the day-to-day operations at Westover.
Connally was also a retired Air Force
Reserve technical sergeant. A former
aerial porter with Westover’s 42nd Aerial Port Squadron, Tech. Sgt. Connally retired
in 2007.
“My deepest
sympathies go out to the family and friends of Mr. Connally,” said Col. Al
Lupenski, 439th Airlift Wing commander. “Our thoughts and prayers
are with them. When a tragedy like this occurs, every Westover member feels it.
Our talented military-civilian team here mourns this loss.”
