Commander announces interim command chief

WESTOVER AIR RESERVE BASE, Mass. -- -- A veteran Patriot Wing member will soon step into the interim shoes of the 439th Airlift Wing's top enlisted position.

"I am pleased to announce that I have selected CMSgt David Carbin to be the interim 439 AW Command Chief starting on 1 Feb 2014," said Brig. Gen. Steven Vautrain, 439th AW commander. "Chief Carbin has been a member of the Patriot Wing for many years and is known throughout the wing as a hard-working, dedicated leader. I look forward to working with Chief Carbin as we continue to care for and mentor our Airmen."

CMSgt. Michael Thorpe, 439th AW command chief since May 2011, is taking his new position as command chief of 22nd Air Force, located at Dobbins Air Reserve Base, Ga., on Feb. 1.
