WESTOVER AIR RESERVE BASE, Mass. -- Chief Master Sgt. Ryan Hellyar, 439th Operations Group senior enlisted leader, took part in a recent community youth mentoring event in Holyoke, on June 29, 2023.
On a semi-annual basis, the Department of Justice sponsors a Project Safe Neighborhoods program. The goal is to have adults from various professions – law enforcement, fire department, nurses, lawyers, military, etc. – talk to youth sports teams about options in life. The theme is “You can be anything you want to be.” Westover has participated in this many times with great success, and our latest representation did not disappoint! Hellyar spoke about his journey from middle school to the Air Force, and the choices he made to navigate life's challenges.
Hellyar also talked about the many careers and jobs the Reserve offers, and the rewards of being a Citizen Airmen.
