WESTOVER AIR RESERVE BASE, Mass. -- An assumption of command ceremony was held on May 22, 2023, for the incoming commander of the 439th Mission Support Group. Col. Jon Baum excepted the reigns from Col. Gregory Buchanan the new 439th Airlift Wing Commander.
As MSG commander he will be in charge of 4,700 installation personnel, including base support personnel and 15 tenant units.
Baum was commissioned in May of 2000 and is a 23-year veteran in all aspects of the United States Air Force. He is an alumn of Westover, stationed here from 2006 to 2008 and again from 2011 to 2013, and in 2013 was put in the position of Operations Office in the 439th Logistics Readiness Squadrons, until 2015.
