The skeleton of the ISO hangar under construction dwarfs the older WWII hangars in the background.  When complete the 100,000 sq. ft. complex will hold an entire C-5M cargo aircraft comfortably with room to spare for offices, a sheet metal shop, bench stock, a computer room, and shower rooms.

The C-5 is the largest aircraft in the U. S. Military and Westover is home to eight. The hangar will be the hub for all minor C-5 inspections, including all C-5s throughout the U.S. Air Force.

Once complete it will be a state-of-the-art, modern, and efficient facility that will become an integral part of accomplishing Westover’s mission to support the Air Force’s worldwide operations into the future.

The groundbreaking for the $46.6 million hangar was held in Oct. 2021 and the scheduled completion is set for Dec. 2023.
