Major General James T. Rubeor, the 22nd Air Force commander, paid a visit to Westover May 12 and 13.

The Numbered Air Force commander took the time to visit different squadrons on base and talked with Westover leadership about important current issues.

"General Rubeor was impressed with the men and women of the 439th Airlift Wing and their continued support of the Afghanistan surge and the great strides of the regional isochronal inspection operation towards full operational capability in 2012," said Col. Robert Swain, the commander of the 439th Airlift Wing.

During his visit, General Rubeor also spoke with the Twenty-second Air Force Command Chief Master Sergeants, who were holding a conference at Westover the same days.

"The general talked about the state of Air Force Reserve Command, the direction we're heading, and he thanked everyone for supporting Air Force Reserve priorities.  He couldn't stress enough the safety down day coming in June and how important it is for Airmen to reflect on what they need to do to stay well," said Chief Master Sgt. Zigmond Skawski, Westover's command chief.

The two-star general made stops at the isochronal inspection dock, the Airman and Family Readiness Center, the control tower and the 337th Airlift Squadron. He also ate lunch with Airmen at the Westover consolidated club.
