Lorraine Martin, the vice president for the C-5 program at Lockheed Martin, visited Westover Air Reserve Base, Aug. 2, to see the C-5 operation here and meet the people who fly and maintain the massive jets.

Ms. Martin, who oversees the C-5 modernization program at Lockheed, spent time speaking with wing leadership and touring the 337th Airlift Squadron and the Regionalized Isochronal Inspection Dock.

The 23-year Lockheed Martin veteran had high praise for Westover Airmen.

"The pride and the dedication to excellence that you feel at Westover not only is evident when you talk to the folks, all the way to the commander, but also in looking at the result of what Westover does with the C-5, and being able to generate missions, and being able to do it reliable on behalf of AMC and our war fighter. It is absolutely impressive and I would say that is a high water-mark for the folks who fly the C-5 and we really appreciate everything that is done to make that happen."

Ms. Martin also expressed her thanks for all the work the Patriot Wing has done for surge operations in Afghanistan.

"In addition to that, many of the the folks here just recently did a operation in Afghanistan, not only with C-5Bs from Westover, but from teams from Dover and brought the two C-5Ms into the fight in a really impressive way. And so I was also here to say thank you for all the activities over the last months, years, that the troops here at Westover have done with the C-5s."
