The Westover firefighters held a fundraising cookout June 25 outside the fire department. Patriot wing patrons were able to enjoy the delicious barbecue chicken underneath tents by the flight line. The firefighters, who are members of the Federal Firefighters Benevolent Association, raise money year-round for Westover members in need and for the burn unit at the Shriner's Hospital for Children in Boston. The cookout raised about $1000.

Fire Department to hold fundraiser for burn center

WESTOVER AIR RESERVE BASE, Mass. -- The Westover Fire Department is holding a barbecue on Friday from 11:30 to 12:30 to raise money for the Shriner's Childrens Burn Center in Boston.

The menu for the day features barbecue chicken, pasta salad, dinner rolls, brownies and soda. Customers are welcome to eat on the flight line side of the fire department or take their food to go.

Tickets to the fundraiser are available by contacting Anthony Carfiro at 413-557-2960. Only 200 tickets will be sold.
