Locals support deloyed troops with care packages Published Sept. 11, 2011 By Senior Airman Charles Hutchinson 439th Airlift Wing Public Affairs WESTOVER AIR RESERVE BASE, Mass. -- Operation Touch of Home, a Massachusetts based organization that supports troops with care packages, is seeking names of local residents deployed overseas to send the packages to. The organization relies on friends and family of those deployed overseas to provide them with the names and addresses of deployed personnel. The Orange, Mass., based organization is also accepting donations. Operation Touch of Home has sent more than 425 packages to overseas. These packages contain items such as snacks, drink mix, games, magazines and handmade greeting cards. Operation Touch of Home is an organization created by Jessica Gale-Tanner and Tessa White-Diemand in September 2007 as a way to support local troops stationed overseas during the holidays. It's a way to show local soldiers that there are people back home thinking of them.
