WESTOVER AIR RESERVE BASE, Mass. -- Col. Neil Hede will assume command of the 439th Operations Group Feb. 10.
Hede comes to Westover from Little Rock Air Force Base, Ark., where he commanded the 327th Airlift Squadron. He's a command pilot with more than 4,900 hours in the C-130, KC-135, and C-5.
His other leadership positions include flight safety officer, squadron section commander, deployment manager, director of inspections, and instructor pilot.
The operations group includes the wing's only flying unit, the 337th Airlift Squadron, which is scheduled to be equipped with eight C-5M Super Galaxy airlifters by this summer.
