First Green Dot Fun Run and Bowling Tourney big win

The first Green Dot 5K Fun Run and Bowling Tourney got off to a running start April 2 with more than 60 participants.
The event was setup by Tamara Thompson, the base Sexual Assault Response Coordinator. “It turned out to be a perfect day for the event,” she said. “We had a great turnout.”
According to Thompson, the events where held to enhance the awareness of the Sexual Assault Green Dot program and to sponsor a fun way of getting the Westover family together for a morale building event.
Time was only one factor in deciding the winner, they also had to answer trivia questions and complete other fun physical challenges.

In the overall 5K Fun Run competition the 439th Communication Squadron’s team, “Beauty and the Beasts” took home the top spot. The team included David Barrett, Luis Acosta, Sarah Anderson, and Matt Marvin who took the competition by completing the course in 44 minutes, 11 seconds and answered the most trivia questions correctly.
The teams with the fastest time in the 5K run was taken by the soldiers of the 302d Maneuver Enhancement Brigade ,“The Patriots,” who came in first place with the fastest time of 32 minutes 24 seconds. Team members included John Hewitt, Rony Agosto, Silverina Reyes, Sandra Lozano.
Squeaking in with a close second were the “Legal Eagles” from the wing’s staff judge advocate’s office who clocked in at 32:35, with team members Rob Stolzman, Alex Ricciardore, Zach Wehr.
“Team Cargo,” made up of Patriot Wing aerial porters, sped across the finish line for a third place with 35:02. Jr. Fallon, Chris Ellis comprised the team. Fourth place team with 35:49, was “Log Dogs”, with team members Mark Jones, Zavier Murray, David Padilla, Johnny Ramirez, Jerry Hunt, Jason LaRose, Jon Driskell, Chuck Carlin, Laroy Prantlin, and Orlando Severino.
Fifth was taken by the “Equalizers” with 37:09 and included Ennis, Rogers, and Maldanado.
In the Bowling Tourney held at the Westover Bowling Center, Team “Backshop Boyz”
comprised of Lord, Jette, Rosas, and Zalimas won the day with 67.25.
“Many people that participated said they had a lot of fun and are looking forward to the next event,” Thompson said.
