Westover Fire aids Belchertown fire

The Westover Fire Department sent Tanker 9 with two firefighters to Belchertown, Mass. for a structure fire on Daniel Square, on Mon. July 10 at 12:35 p.m.

The Tanker shuttled water to the scene along with other local fire departments due to the lack of fire hydrants near the home. The tankers supplied water for the fire engines assigned to suppress the fire.

Crews from Amherst, Bondsville, Granby, Ludlow, Palmer, Pelham, Three Rivers, and Westover worked for 2 hours before the 2-alarm fire was under control.

In total Tanker 9 shuttled and supplied over 11K gallons of water to the location.

Engine 8 was sent to backfill the Granby Fire Dept. as requested. This effort was part of the mutual aid agreement between Westover and local municipalities.
