  • Westover to hold Award Gala, Feb. 8

    Westover Warriors, Please come and join us in celebrating this year’s annual award nominees at the 2020 Awards Gala. This year’s Gala will be held on 8 Feb 2020 at the Castle of Knights Meeting and Banquet Hall 1597 Memorial Drive, Chicopee MA starting at 1730. The leadership of the Wing look forward to seeing as many of our members attend as possible. Additionally, in following last year’s event, there will be a silent auction that will include autographed sports memorabilia, overnight hotel stays, country club green fees, and many other exciting items.   • Westover Citizen Airmen support annual community meal

    Establishing and maintaining positive community relations are the cornerstones of Westover Air Reserve Base’s ‘good neighbor’ policy. Nearly 20 Airmen from the Patriot Wing strengthened that bond recently by serving a holiday meal to over 620 area senior citizens.

    Sunderland Elementary School hosted its 11th Veterans Day Observance Ceremony on Nov. 8, 2019, in front of Sunderland, Massachusetts Town Hall.
  • Civil Air Patrol honors Mt. Tom crash site

    On Saturday, July 20, the Westover Composite Squadron honored the 73rd Anniversary ceremony for 25 fallen service members who perished when their B-17 crashed into Mt. Tom. The plane and her passengers crashed July 9, 1946 while returning home to Westover Field from a Europe tour of duty after World War Two. The Squadron Color Guard presented our nation's colors for the crowd of onlookers. Other unit personnel helped usher crowds, transported equipment to the memorial site, and provided public affair’s photography support. “Our Squadron was honored to represent our nation & Westover Air Reserve Base in support of the remembrance ceremony for these fallen heroes,” said Maj.   • HoF garners award for hosting recruiting event

  • Being a positive role model makes for a positive mentor

    Being a positive role model is one of the most effective mentoring tools Airmen can use to influence and affect future change. Two members of the Westover family will be doing just to support a local community engagement event. Lt. Col. Rodney Furr, Chief, Public Affairs, and Major Kimberly Askew, Commander, 439th Logistic Readiness Squadron, are scheduled to speak to elementary school students this week as part of the on-going Holyoke Safe Neighborhood Initiative. The United States Attorney’s Office is assisting the Hampden County Sheriff’s Office and the YMCA of Greater Holyoke in bringing a program to a youth basketball league on Friday nights.
