Westover welcomes new tennants
Military and local officials cut the ribbon June 7 for a 24,000?square foot building that will house a Navy Reserve Seabees unit at Westover.
Fourteen active duty and about 550 reserve members of the Naval Mobile Construction Battalion (NMCB) 27 have relocated from Brunswick Naval Air Station, Maine, which is scheduled to close in 2011.

Westover hosts Massachusetts Fire Academy
Airman 1st Class Walter Selkirk practices patching a 150-lbs chlorine cylinder at the Westover fire training area. About 20 Fire fighters from around Massachusetts converged on Westover Air Reserve Base to participate in the Massachusetts Fire Fighter Academy's 160-hour Hazardous Materials Technician Course that was hosted here in May.

Former Westover member awarded Bronze Star, Purple Heart.
Chief Master Sgt. Francis Galligan is awarded the Bronze Star and Purple Heart at a ceremony held at the Westover Conference Center May 10. The long-delayed medals recognize the Chief's actions during the Bataan Death March in World War II.
