7/14/2009 - WESTOVER AIR RESERVE BASE, Mass. -- A Westover reservist was recognized June 26 at a White House ceremony conducted by the Office of Personnel Management. Lt. Col. Douglas Sudnick, the 439th Mission Support Group, earned the Combined Federal Campaign Hero award.
The award honors those individuals who are instrumental in significantly impacting the amount of charitable donations drummed up during the campaign season.
Colonel Sudnick's efforts as CFC coordinator for Westover helped bring a 21.7 percent increase in base contributions. The is was the largest increase among federal agencies in the Pioneer Valley for the 2008 campaign.
"The most important element to coordinating for a successful campaign is getting key people to volunteer early so brainstorming can begin," Colonel Sudnick said. This award also belongs to the personnel at Westover who dedicated many hours preparing and organizing fund-raising events.
"During the brainstorming sessions and throughout the campaign season, Colonel Sudnick was always encouraging and supportive," said Linda Mason Markwald, CFC Manager of the Pioneer Valley CFC.
