The Run the Runway and Festival event took place Saturday, June 8 at the Westover Airport on the south end of the Westover Air Reserve Base runway. The Galaxy Community Council, the Greater Chicopee Chamber of Commerce and the Westover Airport organized the event. There were 400 runners that participated in the 5K run on Westover's long runway, 700 visitors attended the after event which included 208 vehicles in the auto show, five food vendors, and 14 non-profit organizations.

"Last year we had 263 runners for the event, so the numbers were up and having it on the UTA weekend so reservists could run using the time as thier mandatory physical fitness workout, certainly helped," said Connie Brown, Galaxy Community Council president. "It was a great day and the response to the event was awesome".
The festival also included a display of vintage aircraft including a C-5M.
